In the Bible, God had a habit of changing a person’s name once they began to follow Him. Abram to Abraham, Saul to Paul, etc. A name represented who that individual was as a person. Well, for me, my name has always been special. Of course, maybe my mom’s reason for choosing it was kind of shallow (David Cassidy? really?) but I have been blessed with a pretty unique name. For example, I’ve never glanced back when someone called my name and realized they were talking to someone else. I guess that could happen a lot if you have a name like, Josh. π
That said, because my name is so rare, I pay attention to weird details about a person that I meet or hear of that has my same name! How do they dress/act? Do they love Jesus? Have they gotten into any legal trouble? etc. haha. I know that is probably dumb. But, it’s like somehow I feel as though I need to represent my name well!
So when I heard about the rapper named Cassidy (who came out a few years back) I, of course, checked into him. I immediately wrote him off as just another rapper that rapped about sex and drugs. Which he was, up until a recent life change. And then I came across this video – THIS Cassidy’s got a message. Check it out.
Way to represent, Cassidy!
What about you? Do you think about how your name is represented? Or is it just me?
My name is Cassidy too! π
I’ve never liked my name. Ever. My mom’s reason for choosing it, only one my mom and dad could agree on. I have to say, I did the same with the rapper. He gives off a good message, though his rapping skills are not so good. There is another Cassidy in my school, she is mean, rude, obnoxious, and does NOT represent the name well….AT ALL! (:
